All nice and sharp ones, David. The back of the first one resembles a logo some lordy from England.... I like #2 for its clean shot...

i like #2, the bug's certainly not camera shy, like it poses for a portrait shot

    Hi David,

Nice series, and No 3 looks like he's having a good meal of something. I would suggest No 1 is a type of Shield Bug or otherwise known as a Stink Bug but not sure of 2 & 3 but there's just so many different types and species.

    Keep them coming

    Re: Bugs

Cheers Grahame,no.1 now you have mentioned it does look like a Shield Bug,I have only ever seen the green variety here!

I have some more jumpers I will try and post later

    David,
Great shots, the detail is exquisite.
I'm not absolutely sure but I believe 1 & 2 are two different types of ground bugs (seedbugs, Lygadidae) and the third also appears to also be a ground bug, but an immature one called a nymph (they appear basically similar to the adult and don't go through a larval stage, but rather stages called 'instars'.)

    Re: Bugs

Thank's Jack,i have looked on-line and you are spot on,#2 is from the Lygadidae family(Milk Weed bug)and #3 is a nymph,Grahame was also correct with #1, the Shield Bug(Stink Bug)

    Cheers David

    Re: Bugs

I have to agree, #1 is a stink/shield bug. There are a couple of key features but the only easily visible one is the 5-segmented antennae, Lygadidae are 4 segments (plus they have occelli (simple eye) although I swear I see ocelli on #1.)

    Re: Bugs

I must admit they do look very similar, when looking at Shield Bugs on the net,i saw two mating with the same markings as #1.

Thanks again Jack for your help in identifying them

    Re: Bugs

Keep them coming, they're great to see and I enjoy the exercise in trying to ID them. Been a long time since I've had to apply any cognitive effort to bugs and such.

Great series David and great colours, ive still yet to find a stink bug here with good bright colours, they not the prettiest insects and i find the colours really help improve the image. Perfect sharpness as usual. Good job
