Gerry, welcome to CiC. A good varied series of images all of which show you are managing the exposure and focus well.

Hi Gerry........welcome to CiC. I too prefer #1, but like #3 and 4 too...anyway your intro post is very nice. Congratulations for stepping up to a DSLR. If this is your first effort, I must say you got a good eye for composition...

David, thanks for you comments, if only Troon did look like this. These shots were all taken during a recent visit to Antigua.

Thank you Richard, I really liked this as the little girl looked so happy singing and dancing outside her house.... I just feel a bit awkward doing street stuff?

Re: My first efforts after stepping up to dSLR.
Welcome Gerry.
To me flowers is flowers and birds is birds, the story is in the people. To that end I like #'s 1, 4 & 5.
#1 is great, maybe a tighter crop because the interest is with the two kids.
#3 is great as is. Hard not to smile when I look at that image.
#5 is also great. Interesting thing about street photography, you capture a moment in time and it's up to the viewer to interpret the image. I don't know if they are a couple, or just two random people, are they angry, upset, annoyed? Dunno, that's what makes the image good, the not knowing.
Great shots all (okay, even the flower and bird.)

Re: My first efforts after stepping up to dSLR.
Jack thanks for your comments:
#1 the children were happy playing unaware I was there
#4 also makes me smile as both these young ladies are so full of life, and to get them together was a real bonus
#5 the old guy was being hurried along, much to his displeasure by the look
I'm enjoying the street photography most I think, less manufactured or posing, more natural. I just need to get over the fact I feel intrusive. :-D
