For the pano image I prefer the 1st image (with Andre's suggested crop) while for the single shot version I preferred the pink sky image.

The middle of the pano with the pink sky is the most beautiful part for me as I can see all the shades of the mountains.

Having now completed this project I think I have learnt a fair bit from it that will assist in future work.

The panoramas were the first I have shot and the result of technically automatically merging the 8 shots together so easily was quite pleasing. The reasoning behind taking so many shots was really none other than I could with the view.

What I now appreciate is that it is clear that within the complete panorama there are sections of just two or three frames which could be cropped and work well on their own and the technique can be used in the future to produce a shorter image of higher quality than using a wider angle of view and then cropping.

I also find that central section around the pink sky and the mountain contours most interesting and just wish I could find a better vantage point to photograph it early morning.

Very, very nice, Grahame! Both of them are. As small as it looks like here, the second one is really beautiful for its colour. I am not going to comment on sharpness and all that critique -ing stuff because they already are nice in all of aspect of composition and sharpness. Love your work.

Thanks Izzie but why can you not see it larger? Are you opening it in the 'lytebox' and then clicking on the little box with the diagonal arrow?

You misunderstood me. I DID saw it larger. I know how this works as I have been taking panos for a good while though I haven't submitted my work in any forum. When I said "small" I meant -- on this page.

why is it that we miss these things ourselves?

Because others look at our work from a different perspective. We tend to be more objective about the work of others from the perspective of looking at the image rather than the scene.

The light: to me it is all about light now. This morning I was thinking to myself, an image can be mediocre but if the light is stunning it makes for a good image. The more you see the light the more you get to appreciate the light.

In the second pano you got to appreciate the light as well. Look at the shadows on the hills, the prominent hills on the right and the clouds covered in early morning pink on the left. The perfect exposure of the fishing vessels and the fisherman on their way to their vessel. I can feel the essence of the mood in that moment in time by looking at the image.
