    Harbour Fishing Boat - Panorama

Having worked on and posted the fishing boats early morning scene I decided to re look at the panorama shots I had taken to see if I could produce something I was happy with.

So here's the first. 8 images of which the SOOC Jpegs were stitched using Elements 7 automatic panorama function, standard CSM sharpening and some slight levels adjustment then of course sensor spot and floating plastic bottle removal. I was pretty impressed at the alignment and only had very minor cropping to do.

Note : The image is linked from one I uploaded to my SM site of which is a Jpeg sized at 5442 x 600px with a file size of 2.1Meg, hope this works.

My main concern with the image is that it is darker on the right hand side, it may be that it is a true representation of the light. I was in full manual and set exposure based on the right hand side, perhaps I should have based it on the centre?

I have another set which were taken in the earlier light which for some reason will not stitch automatically, yet to be sorted.

Comments and suggestions are welcome as always.

Very nice, Grahame...the dark and bright side is very noticeable even in the screen version. I do not know Elements as I use its big mother version, but is there a possibility that you can use a blending brush to correct this?

Works well Grahame, well stitched and good detail. Nice light on the ships and those mountains are impressive.

I think you could even up the exposure using a brightness adjustment layer with a gradient starting roughly from the centre of the image.

The trouble with posting panoramas on a Forum is that you can never do them justice. It's a shame because this looks good Grahame.

Thanks Izzie, I'll have a go with a gradient across it as Dave has suggested and see how that does. I'm sure a brush could do it but the gradient should make it much more even as my accuracy with the mouse brick is not brilliant

Thanks for the advice Dave, I have the masters saved so it's no problem having a trial with the gradient.

I was a bit concerned to start with John but after seeing Donald's the other day and what was possible by selecting 'full size' in the lytebox I thought I'd give it a go. I would love to see a full size print of it.

Thank you Donald, it's good to get out of one's comfort zone and have a go at something new using what I have learned here.

It's well worth a try David, not sure what I'm going to do with it but someone suggested offering it to our ports authority for hanging in one of their offices

Just a question, Grahame -- can you get in one of those boats and shoot some sceneries from it? Just curious...Or perhaps look for some bugs...yes, that is a good idea, look for some bugs to shoot...

Hi Izzie, Not sure I can get on one of the fishing boats to shoot some scenery but if I could raise the enthusiasm I would charge the battery in my boat, give it a good scrub up and go out with the camera. I spotted eight similar fishing boats tied abreast and anchored in one spot today and thought what a great shot with a WA looking up at the bows.

Interestingly the headlines in our daily paper today was that the ports authority has an overseas group of experts in the country at present to remove 25, yes 25 sunken vessels from the harbour. I was not aware that there were so many but I do know the exact position of the submerged one I hit a few years back.

As for bugs, having spent a career at sea I guarantee 100% that there will be no shortage of cockroaches on all of these floating vessels.

Grahame this is a great pano. I love the light and the mood in the image.

Consider cropping out the boats on the left, the ones you have cut. If you cut just behind BZWY 45 the image will ”balance”.

Finally back on line after a mega internet outage here................................

I had not considered the chopped boats on the left Andre but you are right, in the version corrected for lighting below I have removed them to balance things up. Thank's for pointing it out, why is it that we miss these things ourselves?

Also included is the version that was taken with the earlier light.
