    Banjhakri Falls

    Hi,

During my recent trip to North-East India I took a photo of Banjhakri Falls thats near Gangtok in Sikkim. I used ND filter for long exposure.

    Banjhakri Falls

Would appreciate if you all could guide me to improve!

    Thank you

I think this is a very well exposed image. The colours have been brought out very well.

I do have a question about the composition. Do you think that the paved walkway at the left contributes strength to the image? I would suggest that it does not. I think it competes for attention with the waterfall.

This, of course, is only my opinion and others may take a different view. But, for me, cropping out the paved walkway leads to a more harmonious, balanced image.

    Sasank,

Nicely done, I suspect the multi-colored stones drew your attention to the walkway, perhaps if the walkway were ultilized in another composition with the falls it might work.

Sasank: very nice capture and a large image it is also all 74" of it. I took a copy of it and played a little, now this is just my opinion and my reality which will be different than yours. I opened in Photoshop CC>made a copy>curves layer>inverted the mask to black>using a brush at 10% to revel the changes I did. I added the curves layer and lowered the white point from 255 to 248 so the highlights were not as strong, then I darken the whole image by about 1/3 of a stop. Now inverted the mask to black and using a brush set to 10% I slowly revealed the areas that I wanted darker, the corners, edges and the flowing water the most the rock in front along with the stone path the least. Now the water is not as bright however as I darkened the edges down your eyes are still drawn into the middle of the shot as your eyes follow the light.

    Cheers: Allan

Thank you very much for the feedback Donald.

Well I didnt crop the left part because I thought it would act as leading line towards the falls

    Hi Sasank

Nice image. I'd suggest trying a crop on the left that loses about half the path. This will still give you the lines you are after but reduce the dominance of the path.

I also think your image needs a little more sharpening. You would probably be better to post a downsized image too (say 1600 wide) rather than such a large file as it has to be downsized automatically for our viewing anyway. That way you can control the downsizing quality and output sharpening.

Sasank you are asking us if you got it right, so cares if we think it is right, it is you, who only knows if it is right. So is it right? It is your reality of what you see in your mind, I have my reality, you have your reality. Your reality is the only one that matters.

    Cheers: Allan

hahaha.... thats true Allan! Everyone has their only reality. But, I mean to ask if I did properly what was suggested Even if I think something looks good dosnt mean I am always right like the one I posted before I felt the path on left looks good but as per everyone's suggestion its a bit distracting which I could not figure out

I like your edit I think it needs just a little bit counterclockwise rotating.

Nicely exposed image and the right ss for the water. IMO the cropped version is an improvement in composition.
