    It is an interesting subject, James, but the focus is a bit soft, and the background is too bright for me.

    Yes it is interesting to me and the colours and lighting are great.

    What does grab my attention is that there is a lack of sharpness anywhere to concentrate on, the subject is obviously the decaying wood but I want to see good detail in at least a reasonable part of it.

    I'm with John on this one...when I first looked, I saw a rocky out-cropping. You should reshoot but, this time work the subject, imagine what it might be and make it so.
