Fishing at Dawn

The last time I went to Pompton lake was almost three month ago when the lake was still frozen. When I went there last Saturday before sunrise, the ice has totally gone. Some cloud hanging in the low sky, the surface of the lake was still a little bit misty. The fishing boats were there even before I arrived. I took a lot of shots for these boats. In the PP, I order to create a warm dreamy morning tone, I increase the white balance. For some of the image, I decrease the saturation. I want to know if I really achieve that.

BTW, I realize that my speed was set too slow. Most of the boat are NOT crystal clear.

I think you have achieved your goal in all except no 3 - I think the boat is too far away and so gives a different sort of image - still good though.

If the objective was to make a beautiful image that had fishing as the key theme in the picture, then I think this is the outstanding image from this series.

If the objective was to make a beautiful image of a peaceful, rural landscape in which there was a lake and boat upon it, then this is the outstanding image of the series.

In other words, I don't think we can compare like-with-like and say that one is better than another. For me, these two in particular are glorious images. I think the composition of this image is superb.

Hui, #1 is a little bit too strong in colour. Maybe you can tone it down a little bit. The clarity of #1 and #2 are really great but #2 the top left hand side with the branches sticking out needs to be removed, I think...and there is a cut off barn or house at the right side. That bothers me.

The rest of the shots are superb with the misty feeling it brought out in the shots.

#s 5,6 & 7 will really catch the attention of any fisherman, put them in a tackle outlet and they'd fly off the shelves, my favourite though, #7.

I think the first is a little over-saturated, Hui. I really like the processing of the 2nd, but for colour and composition, the 6th is my favourite.

Thanks for analyze these two images. My initial idea for this serious is showing the fishing at a peaceful morning . I do like the #3 a lot and decide to show it here together with other "fishing" pictures.
