These are nice images. I was a bit puzzled by the diverging angles of the shadows for a while. It looks as though the sun is just over the horizon. I guess it's just a strong perspective effect which suggests that the picture was taken from a relatively close point.

Beautiful image John. It portrays a wonderful feeling of solitude and I find myself returning to it to keep looking at it

Clone looks better John and I wouldn't crop from the left because you are losing the depth of field .Wide and deep area behind adds to the composition
