    Spring? barn

Finally made it out to my favourite barn this morning. The last time was in early November.

Up until now the snow has been too deep to even attempt trying. This morning I had to walk in a mile (1.6 km) at minus 5C but the snow crust was firm enough to hold me. By this afternoon at plus 10 the snow will be soft and it will be a nightmare trying to walk in.

The meltwater puddles were still frozen from last night, perhaps more interesting that way.

Spring is about two weeks late this year. By now the snow is usually all gone, or at least the fields are bare.

Oh Trevor! the things you have to endure to get that shot was enormous in my book. What a dedicated photographer!

I actually thought it was just a nice stroll! Albeit at 5 in the morning to get there before the sun rose. I suppose it is dedicated but, and not to be snotty or superior, I can be very certain that with no effort there would be no image.

The sunrise never worked out but on the plus side the clear eastern horizon gave me lots of light to work with. Had to leave before the temperature rose however as I had no intention of getting caught trying to walk out through melting snow sinking in to my knees with each step in the drifted areas.

Such an interesting scene! Thanks for explaining the ice.

You must have a terrific portfolio of this barn. It would be good to create one section of a web site that exclusively displays that portfolio.

I have quite enjoyed seeing the different faces of this barn at different times of day over the months. Another good record of its existence.

I feel the need to do something to get these images out in the world. I enjoy them and I use my images as a screen saver at home and work so they are not just moldering on the hard drives. I have made canvas prints of some of my images but that is an expensive luxury I cannot afford to indulge myself in for long. I think most of us would like wider exposure of our work. The question is how.

Maybe I will mull it over for the next twenty five years. By then it will likely cease to be a problem. As will I.

There may be a burst of images from this morning coming to a website near you.

As for future images, time will tell. I am losing my Associate at the end of April so it is back to solo practice again. The freedom to go out every other weekend will end. Back to being restricted to photographing stuff within a 15 minute radius of the hospital. This barn is 35 minutes away. Such is life. I have done this for thirty years so I have learned to accept this sort of thing and move on.

A gorgeously clear, vibrant image. You can just feel the clear, fresh air going into your lungs.

Sorry to hear that. Will you replace? All work and no play .... etc, etc!
