In this shot I combined ambient light with flash. A six second exposure at f8 with a tad of flash added as fill.

I am getting excited about using flash under all different conditions. It is amazing to see what can be done with a single on camera flash, bounced in all different directions.

Any comment or critique most welcome and much appreciated.

It amazes me why people don't use flash, I use it inside and out all the time,

I do feel the background is distracting and really should either be oof or plain

So am I...the background is nice as it is...without the bird AB...or the bird without the BG.

Seems we are in the minority about the BG. I was of the opinion the BG works fine, blending with and contrasting the bird.
