    St Stephans Dom

Been to Passau and visited the Sankt Stephans Dom, containing the worlds biggest organ (the word big in this case refers to the number of pipes, 17.974!) - though it doesn't look that big, most of the pipes aren't visible from the sanctuary...

    C&C welcome as always

I love #1 and #2. Will you still go back there? Do you leave near it? How you did this is absolutely beautiful....

Lovely images Gigi! The colors in the first two are likely accurate but appear just a bit muted. You might try a bit of Local Contrast Enhancement (LCE) and see if it picks up impact just a little for you.

    Hi Brigitte,

The first two images are wonderful. I love the detail in the first image, and the second image has lovely symmetry. The only thing I'd change is to add just a touch of contrast, and then I'd see how a vignette looks.

Well done - really very beautiful. Thanks for sharing!

Very nice photos, Brigitte. You were blessed (no pun intended) with diffuse, even lighting inside the cathedral.

As for the world's largest pipe organs, I quickly found two websites including this one indicating a few organs that are larger than this one. Perhaps this is the largest pipe organ outside the U.S. When we Americans are lacking quality, we usually make up for it in quantity and it appears the size of pipe organs is no exception.

    Thanks for your comments!

Izzie: Doesn't look at the moment like I will go back there. I grew up near Passau but now live with the family in the north of Germany. Passau is also called the "Venice of Bavaria" as there are three rivers. Sadly last year there was the highest flooding since more than 500 years, you can see the extent on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOyYqo3WvCI , and you can also see the solidarity and huge help the students raised.

Frank and Cliff, you mean to strengthen the contrast? I will give it a try.

Ah, Mike, thanks for the compliment (I take it as such), and how could I just suppose something outside the USA could be larger, more numerous or more gigantic in any way? Well, internet confirmed me what I allegedly knew before. Thank you for disabusing

    Mr Buckley...

There are a lot of quite impressive pictures of that natural disaster last year, at some parts of the city the complete ground floor was flooded, alltogether almost 13 meters of flood.

Gigi, Not just adding contrast. I was referring to a technique described here. There are actually a number of techniques that can provide LCE. The benefit of Local Contrast Enhancement is that it adds contrast selectively. The potential drawback is that it requires more than a simple increase of the contrast slider and not all post processing software supports these techniques.

If you don't have the ability to do LCE, try a combination of a subtle contrast and saturation increase until it looks best to you.

I took your first image and applied a bit of LCE to demonstrate what I was describing. If you don't like it I can remove this example from your thread.

The technique I used is a Vivid Light Blending Mode and Surface Blur in Photoshop, which is similar in effect to the CiC link above. If you would like, I'd be happy to share the steps with you.
