WOW ! Thanks the dogs' water dish #1 is such a great image,I like the posture,composition,sharpness,details...everything .

#2 is excellent too,have you thought rotating it 90 degrees clockwise?

Anyway, I like the way you position #1--it was about to jump, wasn't it?

Love #2 for its luminosity and sharpness of its wings...superb! and #3 is excellent...nothing to nit about...they are all good ones, just that #1 made me laughed so hard. Thanks for the story of your dog bowl...

Cheers Izzie,yes that's why he has the wet look,I fished a jumping spider out the same bowl the other week,great for bug catching as long as the dogs dont beat me to it,glad you had a chuckle

Very interesting Bee Fly, David. Clear wings, not like the Bombylius major which we regularly see in the UK. That has a dark leading edge to the wing.

Maybe yours is Bombylius canescens? There is also a Heath Bee Fly (B. minor) which is quite small and rather rare in the UK.

The hover seems to be Melanstoma to me. Rather slender tibia.
