    Grimace

First of all, I apologize for not be active on the forum lately, I have a lot of work in these weeks =P

Second, I would like yours opinions comments and criticism on these pictures =)

    Grimace

    Grimace

    The story:
Here in Italy some tradition know no time... and no weather (< humor)
Good Friday Procession in a little village up a mountain, 3° to 5° C (37.4 to 41° F), a mix of rain and snow fall unmerciful, it would have been the perfect time for duvets and hot cocoa near a fireplace... Despite of that to march in the procession, dressed in traditional clothes, there are even childs... hug tightly to their parents to get warmer, in a grimace from the cold.

    The doubt:
I like the close up more, but I'm worried about the noise.

I was wondering about fractionally increasing the highlights, Pellegrino. But if you want the scene to appear damp and cold then OK; leave it like this.

Maybe there is a fraction of noise which is more noticeable in the crop but for me it is within acceptable limits for a dark scene.

The only slight change which I would consider is a little bit of a different crop. Fractionally less dark area on the right and more space on the left. Only a little though.

I like both but prefer the second overall. The noise isn't much of an issue with me, I also agree the first could survive an even tighter crop.

I like both images. From either near or far, the child's eyes speak the same words.

I agree with Marie. Somehow these days those religious rituals seems so odd to me, though I grew up with quite some. South of Italy is still very attached to them, isn't it?

Wouldn't a tigher crop hide the tigh hug to the mother chest to gettin warmer?

ALL Italy is still very attached to everything is "tradition", isn't just about religion, most of these procession get recognized by the vatican only recently and that because most of them are based on pagan rituals even if "restyled" in a catholic way.

Yes, I wouldn't crop any tighter, just move the existing crop size very fractionally to the left.

That's what I also thought... would take away the intended expression.
