I liked the color version as well, applied a slight gradient filter but felt I needed to step away for a few days before proceeding.

Both work but there are so many subtle shades of blue in the colour version which don't fully transfer to the monochrome.

I prefer the monochrome version because the photo is mostly about two very different shapes connected by a reflection. Eliminating the color characteristics helps tell that story. Well seen, captured and post-processed.

Try getting just a little more separation in tones between the left and middle sides of the lighthouse.

Lovely image John. Just to say that I too prefer the B&W version... I'm not sure why but perhaps because the scene seems more mysterious, romantic and foreign.
