32Gb Sandisk Extreme Pro, I have moved to these for better performance than my Lexar Pros but have noted a double row of contacts, and wonder if they serve a purpose or are for up coming technology

Never noticed those before. They're on other Sandisk cards that I have as well. If you look carefully they are not exposed. They are beneath a layer of plastic.
