Clear well exposed photos; where everything is working just right.
Beautiful birds.....Brian, just ask them to stay right there where they are, OK? They send me bonkers when I hear one around here...
Very nice and clear shots and beautiful birds Brian
Beautiful! I especially love the 2nd image for the unique composition and beautiful detail seen throughout.
Nice captures.
Very nice shots.
Nice pose and detail in the second shot. If you have the nest staked out it's worth revisiting.
They are setting up in a dead palm on a vacant lot about 4 doors down the street from me. These are a little warm because I took them near sunset but it is a good afternoon shoot and I am hoping for some young'uns.
I hope the tree manages to stay there long enough. It looks like there might be some construction slated for the lot.
Beauties and beautifully captured.
The second one is beautifull and nicely composed.
May I ask you what focal lenght did you use to get a so close picture?
I'm shooting these with a Nikon D90 and the 70-300mm VR. Getting close isn't too hard for me. It's a vacant lot that I walk on frequently and have been shooting various birds and bugs on that dead tree for years. I think as far as the local animals are concerned, I'm just another one of them that grazes through from time to time.
A couple of really nice shots Brian. Not a bird I ever see (or hear) much of around here.
Beautiful shots, Brian.
Here is the shooting environment.
The nest is in the dead palm and you can see the hole just below the red roof across the canal. There is some foreshortening here, the boat behind the tree is actually on the other side of the canal. They feed in the ruff of the live palm next door and elsewhere.
When I got there this afternoon, she was in the nest looking out for him an appeared to have been doing more excavation.
A few minutes later he showed up and they conferred for a bit before flying off.
