Helpful Posts: Greg (Footloose) recently posted some excellent images of a Black Oyster Catcher. I had never seen one like it before. This is the UK version as I know it. You can see the similarities but its not quite the same bird. Not a brilliant image but just for interest.

Excellent Capture John. That's a well composed sharp shot with great light and bokeh that seems to vignette it.

Nice shot. Great pose, good colors, sweet light, and a clean BG. Interesting how widespread these guys are with only subtle differences.
Something seems odd about the image. Some details really sharp but poor detail in the black feathers. At f9 not likely a DOF issue. Did you run NR software on it?

Dan, I wasn't being modest about the IQ. It's a much cleaned up image to try and make the best of it. What you can't do of course, is improve the feather detail if it isn't there and that's probably what is registering with you. Hence only posting it for interest and the comparison.
