    Finishing Techniques

    Hi Folks
I wonder could you good Folks give me any information or links to where I can find information on the following subjects associated with Finishing Techniques,

    Trim and mount work correctly,
Describe various mounting and framing methods,
    Identify mounting and framing faults,
Demonstrate layout design in the production of a photographic portfolio and also a computer based presentation.

Your thoughts and guidance would be most appreciated,

    Best Wishes, Pat.

    Hi Pat,

I suggest you head over to www.diyframing.com and go to their Library and Resource Centre. There is a lot of material there that should answer many of your questions. It would be worth registering on the site (free) to get access to everything. If you were in the UK, or you fancy a short holiday , I would also recommend their weekend course if you are planning to have a go yourself.

Logan has a number of good videos posted on YouTube. I recently purchased a Logan 301 and I can say it is a huge improvement over the Dexter hand cutter I was using. The Logan mat cutters are under $100 and worth the investment if you are going to mat your own images.

Another good source is http://www.goldenstateart.com. They have a good selection of pre-cut mats at reasonable pricing. Freight can get a bit costly, but take a look at their 'free-freight' items. There are some good options for stocking up.

http://www.pictureframes.com/ has a good selection of frames. Frames are never cheap but at least you have a wide selection. I have been using the black metal frames. I tend to use just the frame and mat for black and white, and frame, mat and lexan glass for color images. You can easily take these apart and swap out your image to change your work once in a while,

+1 for the Logan kit. I have a mount cutter and frame joiner. Quality products and not expensive.
