flash tutorials

Gonna break down and buy a flash unit to "freeze motion" with hummers in-flight...will be using a Canon 1Ds3 with a tripod mounted 300 2.8, plus a 2X TC and remote shutter, pre-focused on subject zone. Want a lot better quality than I've accomplished to date. Any tutorials on what I want to accomplish?

The Strboist's article on how he shot a bluebird isn't a bad starting place, although in typical Hobby fashion he's gone overkill with six lights.

"Three hail McNallys", funny comment, referring to Joe McNally, photographer. Nice link. Six lights at 1/8 power not so much overkill, depending on where they were positioned.
