How to get your photography noticed

The answer, get a very attractive lady to display it on Fiji Broadcasting Corporation main 6 p.m. TV news today during the weather section

For this I completely forgive her for calling it a 'snap'

Did you coach her to ensure that she didn't stand in front of the rainbow?

    Well done, Grahame!

    Nice "snapshot" (i.e. screen capture).

Will you now shift to photographing attractive ladies? You certainly did a good job with an attractive rainbow.

Re: How to get your photography noticed

Thank you guys, the screen capture will be one that is added to my favourites collection of images.

So how did it come about?

The TV station requests any relevant viewer photos be sent to an email address (citizens eyes) and there is always one shown at the end of the weather section and the weather girl explains where and by whom it was taken.

I sent this in and received a reply email, simply 'Lovely Shot' and awaited the outcome. The following day it was aired but there was no credit to me, that may simply have been due to the difficulty many have here in pronouncing my name, as I do their's.

What is ironic is that I listen to the TV news at this time each day on the radio as the only thing that has worked on my TV for over a year now is a little flashing red LED on the front as it refuses to come out of standby mode

Fortunately though, they download the news video to their website

Congratulations, Grahame. Just out of curiosity, what size image did they want?

Oh well...you lose some (credit) but you win some (your image was put up). Only you and the station will know. What a lot of ___! Next time mate, put your name on the side of the frame or on the bottom right hand side of the shot. You know it was a good shot. Homer Simpson and Elvis were there too rooting for you. Lucky you! I am really pleased for you but not pleased with the way it was handled...you know the feeling...

You know, this one of those times where using a watermark may have helped!

To be honest Frank I do not know if there is any competition with regard to selected images, for me it was just a bit of fun.

Greg, they do not specify any criteria and I did wonder but I just sent a 2000 pixel wide Jpeg which was 1.0 meg in size. I may contact them and ask what their preference is in case I forward them more in the future.

Izzie, the credit does not worry me at all as my interest is in producing images I like and can share with the hope that others like them as well.

I do have a watermark Frank but never use it and I would suspect that adding one in this situation could be seen by some as advertising, misused by some for self promotion and spoil the fun of what it's really all about.
