    Heavy Cloud

I was down to the Air Force Museum at CFB Trenton for the first time today where I got up close and personal with a Spitfire. There were a number of other planes around and this was the best I could do. I selected the spit and copied it to another layer than using the sky and ground was able to hide the stuff in view on the layer that I had copied the spit from as it was on it's own layer. First time I have done something like this hope that you like it.

    Cheers: Allan

Looks like a fairly decent job of PP to me Allan. I would have like to see the wing tip intact but a great capture and effective PP nonetheless.

Love it! Great effect on your pp, congrats. I do agree with Frank on the wing, but - wow!

Alan the PP work is beautiful, but something doesn't quite look right in the finished image.

There are shadows beneath the plane and highlights on the wings and elevator, but the heavy cloud cover is blocking where the sunlight should be coming through the clouds to create those effects.

That's a pretty god job Alan. It may be worth considering toning the grass down a wee bit especially on the right side so the eye is not drawn to it so much?

Got to agree with Manfred Allan but IMHO it's not a bad effort and thought through..

Very nice image , I agree with Grahame about the green, it is competing a bit with the plane

    Re: Heavy Cloud

Thanks everyone for your thoughts, first time doing something like this making up a different reality. I worked on creating some more shadow under the port wing and tail, along with adding shadow under the main body. When shooting the sun was bout my 3:30 fairly dull but peeking through thin cloud to give nice sheen with a tiny bit of rain up before the shot. Also darken the yellow down which helped with the green in the fore ground. Printed it 14"x21" compared to the screen it was dark about 2/3 to 1 stop so curves adjustment layer to brighten so a little dark but damn it looks good even the first one which was even darker looks great. Again thanks for the help and advice.

    Cheers: Allan

    Re: Heavy Cloud

BTW Allan...did you get some shots at the museum at Trenton? Will the lighting be the same as the one in Dayton, Ohio? The Dayton one has this in its FAQ on shooting tips :

Turn off flash on your camera, especially if you are taking pictures of artifacts behind Plexiglass.
The Early Years World War II and Cold War galleries are lit mostly with incandescent lighting; the Korean War and Southeast Asia War Galleries used mercury vapor lighting so visitors with digital cameras should adjust the white balance for fluorescent lights. Film users may want to try Tungsten film or n 80-b filter.
