During my student days I crossed it daily.

Thanks for all the comments. Greatly appreciated. It was very nice being there, warm and dry. I arrived before the sun set and stayed for an hour or so.

I must have been lucky. The vantage point was about all that was available to me at the time, I was at the lowest limit of the focal length of the lens I was using at the time (70-200) and there was almost no post processing - just the usual sharpening, nothing excessive, and a bit of straightening and cropping.

My original mission at the time was to photograph the opera house but it was not the most advantageous position. This picture was taken from the same place.

Try cropping the Opera House image at the bottom to eliminate about two-thirds of the water. Excellent photo!

Nice set of images, of one of my favourite cities. I've not seen many images shot at that time of the day. Unless of course there's a firework display going on

I remember hearing from National Geographic channel some years ago that the architect who design the Sydney Opera House was peeling and orange that was the actual inspiration for this design. I looked up "Utzon" and sure enough Wikipedia came up with his name and connection to the Sydney Opera House saying that ....."his designed was inspired by the simple act of peeling an orange: the 14 shells of the building if combined would form a perfect sphere." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J%C3%B8rn_Utzon

Mike, I agree about the crop. I would have preferred to see and show a lot more space around the opera house but unfortunately there is a lot of other stuff that spoils the scene.

Izzie, the design and construction of the opera house is a complicated, controversial story but very interesting. Jorn Utzon was sacked or resigned before the end of the project.

We were fortunate to go to a concert there over Easter. It was a performance of Jordi Savall's Jerusalem Project, a history of Jerusalem in music over about three millennia. Very exciting.
