Hi John, I use PSE 11 and what I do is:
Select "Layer" from the options on the top of the screen and chose "New Adjustment Layer"
Select Hue/Saturation
Select the desired colour channel for the colour of the CA that is in your image
Using the colour picker tool click on the CA that you want to reduce and use the saturation slider to desired level.
This method usually works well for me, hope it helps
Rita
John it's a fair while since I've used Elements but I'm fairly sure I used a plug-in called PTLens for corecting lens distortions. I thought it was free but just did a check and it looks like it costs 25 dollars. You can try it for free.

John,
Check out this CiC tutorial. Scroll down to the heading, "Automated Lens Correction Profiles." You'll see an explanation of a slider that corrects Chromatic Aberrration in Adobe Camera Raw.

A bit of info behind the shot: 1/2000sec, ISO 800, f/11, 550mm-2x extender on 70-300mm lens. Not a keeper, just an exercise in the setup. Both edits are a work in process as I am getting used to the software. Will try to incorporate Dave's suggestion in next go around.
If you shoot Nikon, View NX2 is free and has a ca correction tool that works in most cases for me--very simple. DXO Optics 6 is old so can be downloaded for free and has a more precise ca correction tool with a fringe check box, too. I use one or the other with Elements 12. I have PTLens but have not been as happy with its results. I was disappointed when I upgraded from 9-12 and did not get this important tool.
