Very nice.
Is this dead or alive Brian ? It stands as if it is alive, but it looks dead
Cicadas belong to the group of beasties that have their skeletons on the outside. Crabs, lobsters, spiders are the same. When they outgrow their shell they 'molt'. The Cicada clutches onto a branch or rock and wiggles out of his or her shell. Flip the pic 90 degrees to the right to see how he is actually hanging.
Very nicely framed Brian. In this position in the frame it looks like he is actually climbing the branch and is close to moving out of view. Usually you would want more leading space in front of the subject but here it gives the impression that he has just rested for a moment before he climbs out of view.
