    Serious conversation on a Harley

Browsing through some old negs. This was shot at a street festival in Philly in the 80's using my trusty Contax 139 & Zeiss 100mm lens. Worked on it in Lightroom and Picassa.

Good capture, Travis. That guy in the white t-shirt and shorts doesn't look like he belongs in the 60s It might help to burn his shirt ... with software, I mean.

I would also crop about 1/3rd from the bottom. You have already blurred it to draw attention the couple and it is not clear what kind of bike it is (if that is relevant) so why not just get rid of it? That would also remove a large part of the arm in the foreground.

Travis, you definitely caught a moment here but I find the radial zoom blur very distracting. I wonder if a simple vignette too darken the background would have been less distracting?

My feelings as well Travis and the capture is worth it for the couple alone.

I am with Shane on this. The Radial Zoom is a bit distracting.

The radial zoom is distracting because the subject is static and a radial zoom generally shows the illusion of motion. Imagine the front or rear end of a car or motorcycle with radial zoom to envision that. In this case, vignetting would be my choice to isolate the subject while retaining the environment.

Travis, I'm a huge fan of street photography and B&W and I think you've captured a great shot here. My only suggestion would be to fix the hair of the guy in the upper RHS.

Thanks Jack and my other friends. In the 80's I lived in downtown Philly and wandered the streets with my camera all the time. I am just now having the negatives scanned to bring my street photos back to life. Hopefully more to come.
