    River Barge

I shot this from over a mile away on a ridge top. I wanted a wide angle of the valley, but it wasn't a clear enough day to shoot, so i took this with the 300 f/4L. Critique comp. and B&W conversion.

    A mile??? Wow!

First - there are two things sticking out of the water at the left-hand side, top third ... and one just above the trees at top right. I'd want to get them out.

What I do like is the pattern, tone and texture of the water, contrasting with the black cargo in the barge.

I think they are probably buoys, Donald, but I agree that I would clone them out. Also there is a dark mark which looks like a wave that is right on the top edge. I would like to either see more or less of it.

But these are very minor items on an excellent photo.

ps. Can anybody else see an eye in the ripples on the left side near the top? Or perhaps it's just my imagination.

Thanks donald, actually a mile + i would say. This is the ohio river and those dark spots are buoys so the barge knows where the main channel is. Never thought of cloning them out.

The black cargo is coal by the way.

Thanks Geoff, There was a black shadow at the top that i cloned out. Must have missed a spot. It kind of drew your attention too much so i cloned it.

????An eye???? Have you been nipping the booze this evening?

Well it is your imagination, but yes, I think I see what you mean Geoff.

Ok, I admit: I had one bottle of beer last night (about 14 hours ago)

    Cheers,
