    Water behaving poorly 2

None of my images from Monterey are so brilliant they are going to garner gasps of admiration. I thought what would be useful is to post some failures that particularly made me gnash my teeth in frustration when I got home. I have posted why I think I messed these up but anyone is welcome to chime in with comments on other aspects on technique, composition or whatever.

Buy an expensive carbon fibre tripod then do not stabilize your tripod when shooting on a very gusty, windy day. Also rely on autofocus so when the tripod is moving the camera is also hunting for focus. This will ensure your image is just blurry and out of focus enough to make you insane because you think it can be salvaged in post processing but never really will be.

the area of utter frustration; close crop of the first to show the problem.

Trevor, the first shot is really good. I like very much. It show the power of the blast of water on the rocks at the other side. Even the green part of the water that you mentioned in Part I. I really like it.

The first one may not be the sharpest focus, Trevor, but you captured the ideal moment. Light shining through the back of the wave as it disintegrates and still being able to see part of the rock being engulfed. Good timing.

I can understand your frustration with this one Trevor, it's a great image but if it had just been sharper on those central rocks

Seeing your water images has tempted me to go and look for some water action but it's pretty tame here unless you go out by boat to the edge of the reef, and boats toss about.

The first one will sharpen Trevor and its a nice composition. My only thought is that you needed a slightly higher viewpoint to avoid the FG rocks cutting into the outcrop. You could PP it with a careful cut, paste and a bit of cloning.

I could have gotten a bit closer and higher. However I had my wife with me and saw some people climbing on the rocks close to the breakers. She said "What sort of idiot would go out there?". I declined to provide an example.

Hi Trevor. First image looks fine and it can be improved with PP. Don't worry about the second one, you are a good photographer, it was just one of those unlucky days

    Thanks Binnur.
The second is a close crop of the first to show the blur/lack of focus. Believe me; I tried to salvage it in post processing and this is the best I could do. Ah well there will be another day

I am very much enjoying your terrific sense of humor and how well you use it to teach some important lessons to those of us attempting to learn the craft.
    Thanks!
