    Local Airshow

After a several year hiatus, our local airshow was back. It was smaller than I remember, but still great to see the planes fly.

Got to love the nose art

The US Navy demonstration team (Blue Angels) were the headliners. They are kinda special in this area since all the F/A-18's are made here. They draw an enthusastic crowd.

Good stuff, Bryan. Those of the display team are, I think, particularly strong images. By featuring landscape in the second of those, you really give the image some context, I think that works really well.

Terrific photos of the Blue Angels, especially the first one of them. In the last one, consider darkening the bright side of the house to eliminate that distraction or even use a cloning tool to eliminate that house altogether.

I'd purchase a coffee table book just for the plane nose art.

    Nice series.

Thanks Donald. I completely agree that context takes airshow images to the next level. I was trying the best I could, but had rented the Sigma 120-300 (test run) and was just a little too tight a few times. They did a couple "fly overs" of the crowd that I wished I had a wide angle to capture the people (kids) and the formation.

Good Catch Mike. I was so focused on getting them silhouetted and the houses and trees that I missed that highlight.

Thanks John. Those older planes definitely had character.

Nice set of airshow images especially the last one! The Angels do put on a pretty spectacular show.

Great images. I like #3 (amazing focus and dof), and especially #5 (foreground, direction of the planes and the gorgeous smoke plumes)
