Sanguinaria canadensis, my first photo of a flower outside this spring. The red sap from the underground stem was used by the Native Americans as a dye for baskets, clothing, and war paint,as well as insect repellent. It was raining on and off so I was wearing a rain poncho, no tripod.Walking in the wood I spotted this beauty on the side of the trail. To get the picture while dealing with the poncho, trying not to step off the trail and getting down to its level without neeling in water poodles, to what length one will go to take a picture? I like the fresh look of just opened flower and the rain drops on the petals. Your comments are always appreciated.
