Peter -- these are all good ones. #1 might be a good candidate for a B/W...have you tried yet a monotone for this? It's got a good curve of the mountain. #3 is a great view of the whole train. I like this one too. #4 -- I like the character of this one. All in all, you did a good job. Some might say otherwise, but I don't.

I'm not up on B/W Issie but...just for you here is a quick and dirty edit, I'm not sure about it. Though I'm sure the good people here will chip in with comments on this. Hopefully with advice on how to convert the colour to B/W as you suggested.

Very nice series Peter. I think that #3 is my favorite of the bunch and wonder if you could get it to pop a bit more with a slight increase in contrast?

The perceptive, the steam and the passing landscape combine to make this a lovely image and I'm not even a train person

Shane, I'm not a train person but...I find them easier to make images of than birds in flight

Here's a rework of number 3 as you requested, WDYT too much maybe?

Nice series Peter I like the B&W and the contrasty version of #3. I think you have sharpened the B&W too much that the image looks crisp.

Very nice series Peter. The B&W version looks fine as a properly exposed color image converts quite well. It may be a bit contrasty but that's better than the muddy conversions we often see. It gives a nice period look to that composition.

I like revised #3 and think that it is just the right amount of contrast on the engine of this train Peter. Nice edit that shows what a big difference a subtle change can make in an image. Thanks for posting the edit.
