    Grey Squirrel

This squirrel posed for me as if I had told him too.

And you took full advantage of the situation. Gorgeous colors and detail!

If you have a little more space on the right side, consider including it.

From this near perfect capture, I'd say not only did you tell him, Dave, but he listened and obeyed as well! That's better than most kids do!

Great detail, catch-light, bokeh, composition, really nice image!

Dressed up in his best clothes, thoroughly brush and neat he is a very dashing gentleman. (He is a gentleman I take it?) Beautiful, catchlight and all.

    Great capture Dave,

It makes a good desktop background image too (assuming the left side of screen is where your shortcuts are).

Wonderfully sharp, I find the ones down my way tend to quiver (and blur the hairs) even when sat posed like this, but perhaps I shouldn't photograph them when it is quite so cold

    Cheers,

Hello Dave: I have a "thing" for squirrels... have no idea where that came from?? I know that they are just rodents, but they seem to have so much more personality than mice. Nice shot, complete with what looks like nut shells on the left.

    Re: Grey Squirrel

Great shot. The colors are great, on the squirrel as well as back- and foreground. It could almost be a mounted specimen in a museum.

I'm fairly sure this is Scirius caroliniensis, known as the eastern (as in eastern U.S.) grey squirrel. In the U.K. it's an invasive species, introduced sometime in the 1800's I believe (maybe because it was cute).

FWIW, rather tastey and good in stews.
