    My first sunburst shot...

While I like the occasional shot of a sunburst I have never been inclined to seek out shots for the sake of catching a sunburst as I feel as if it is one of those shots that is a bit overdone (rant over... )

Having said that, shortly after I captured an image of the Usery Park Sunrise I wandered a bit down the trail and saw the light starting to peak through the landscape and quickly set up my tripod to capture this shot:

    My first sunburst shot...

I processed the shot to enhance the sunburst and like the way the clouds are streaking across the sky. I'm not completely sold on the ocotillo bush that is between the cacti in the composition so would be interested in your thoughts. Also, do you think that I should have left the foreground a bit darker?

Nicely done, I think the background should stay as is.

Yes...I am with John...let it stay the way it is...for one, it is how you saw it, not darker.

Nicely done, I would be interesting to see without the Ocotillo, but then I can imagine that. The Ocotillo is as much part of the desert and this scene as the Saguaro. I like it.

I think it's fine just as it is, it's a great shot compositionally, particularly the sun shining through the cactus.

Thanks John, Izzie, Bob & Jack.

Bob, I really enjoyed wandering though the desert landscape - there is a really unique look and feel about it that I find quite peaceful. Mike Buckley recommended the visit to Usery Mountain Regional Park and I am so glad that he did!
