    Denise these are all a bunch of splashes that I shot in the studio when I made this image:

    Buttermilkfly

    I took the splashes and cut out what I thought I wanted for the butterfly and put them on layers on a black canvas in Photoshop. I shot the original splashes against a black background so that made it easier.

    I used the Free Transform and Warp tools primarily to help get the layers shaped nicely. When I got something I liked I duped the layer and Free Transformed it to look like a mirror image of its counterpart. I warped it a bit so it wouldn’t be exactly symmetrical. Put it all together using layer masks and cleaned it up when I got everything like I wanted it. Sharpened it a tad and since it was Mother’s Day sprinkled a little Mother’s Love on it!
