Why did the chicken cross the road. C&C Welcome

Hi, going forward on my photography venture I stopped and clicked another shot. Can you please review it and let me know what exactly is missing for it to make it much better?

It was clicked in connaught place, new delhi. We were waiting for the pedestrian lights to go green and this guy couldnt wait for 30 seconds or so to cross the road and puts his life in danger. I have to react quickly to capture this moment and clicked in burst mode.

Please provide your views and suggestion with composition and processing.

    Thank You

PS : Please click on the image for lightbox screen view (Highly recommended).

    Raj,

Forgive Peter for he knows not what he says.

In my opinion, any image with any element drawing attention is worth capturing and keeping.
In this image you have done very well capturing the movement of the pedestrian and the oncoming cars. It is an interesting image that you handeled very well in converting to B&W.

If the name Cartier-Bresson was signed at the bottom it would have made the photography journals.

Agreed with Andre. And, not just attention but a gut level anxiety that the pedestrian will be flattened.

I think this image is awesome!!!!! Please post more.

I'll have to go with Peter on this one Raj; this image does not do anything for me, from both a technical and compositional standpoint.

The background is clear, but the foreground is not. The cars are in motion and blurry and so is the person crossing the street. The person on the left with his head cut off just adds a dark blot on the left side of the image and removing him might strengthen the image a touch, but even then, it still has nothing that attracts my eye and draws me into the scene.

    Raj,

+1 to Andre and Marie's feedback though I feel you may have lost some detail in the shadows - with just a samll adjustment for example, all the gear on the guys back, the lady under the tree on the opposite side of the road and the passengers in the tuk tuk become visible and I believe add worthwhile additional context to the image.

    Frightening image all the same.

    Raj,

Do you have anymore images from this scene? I think a few more frames, not necessarily providing us with the outcome; would add to the intensity of the composition.

Thanks for your valuable review. Those are really big words, I stand nowhere infront of Cartier-Bresson. Thanks for your kind words.

Thanks for your valuable review and suggestion. I agree i havnt took much time to see the composition as i clicked in a hurry. I will try my best to work on spontaneous composition and wont disappoint you It is indeed an inspiration for me to work more harder on my shots

Thanks for your kind review and suggestions. I have deliberately burnt the tuk tuk and many other stuffs to draw more attention to the person who is crooing the road and cars rushing towardsd him. I will open up the details in the shot as suggested.

Well I'm pleased that my original response attracted some attention to this image, let me explain my provocative statement.
At the time I posted at #2 Raj's image had nearly sixty views but...no responses!

I believed and still do, that the OP was asking for suggestions on the image and his post processing. Following my post (#2) Raj has now received some great feedback on his image.

So now that others, far more knowledgeable than I on image critique have given their thoughts on Raj's image, it's only polite for me to expand on my original words.

I agree that the shadows need lifting and that not only has the unfortunate foreground person has been decapitated but that person is blocking the left of the image. In addition the sky has very little detail other than the wires which cross it. The image shows the action as Raj saw it and decided to capture it, the description explains Raj's reason for capturing the moment, so as a reportage style of image it works. However IMHO it needs some more action to make it a keeper, may I dare to suggest that; had Raj in his burst of frames have managed to capture that irresponsible pedestrian being hit by a car. It may have become a newspaper front page image.

IHTH you Raj, keep on with your photographic journey and posting images here for people to express their thought on them to help you on your journey.
