Shoes of the Fisherman
I spotted this guy sticking crabs (for bait) and took a couple of shots from this angle before he heard the shutter (I was on a rock ledge a few metres higher). I wanted to take a couple from the front but he declined (that's the polite way of putting it )
I'm not sure which works best, colour or mono. I'm not fond of the coloured shorts but I think the white water looks more vibrant in colour and it is the water that makes this shot worthwhile for me. What do you think?

Mono for me as the textures are enhanced in this version.

Re: Shoes of the Fisherman
Greg I think that if push came to shove that maybe just ever so very slightly I prefer the B&W version. The breaking wave and shoes become a little more important and by removing the warm tones the legs are less dominant. On the other hand....

I think the colorful shorts make the image. The colorful image apparently tells a different story than the story you intended to tell, but it's a great story.

Love the color shot. I would eat fish out of that pretty blue water!

They both work for me Greg, but if I had to choose I would prefer colour version

Re: Shoes of the Fisherman
This is one of those (for me) rare cases where I think the image is better in color. The color of the water, shorts and skin tone are what the image is about. And the capture of the water breaking over the guy's left foot is excellent

Re: Shoes of the Fisherman
Thank you all for your comments, and for offering sound reasons for your preference. I am leaning more towards the colour version now, even with those hideous shorts. Why couldn't the guy wear respectably daggy old shorts like everyone else? I'll have to be more careful about my choice of subjects in future

Re: Shoes of the Fisherman
I like the color version, the shorts add a nice pop and point of interest that the BW does not have, just my opinion. I also think the colors in the shorts bring out the colors in the water.

Re: Shoes of the Fisherman
Thanks Maria. I have decided that the colour brings out just a bit more detail in the water breaking over his shoe, too.
