The Blue-footed Booby - Galapagos - Set 1

Dear fellows,

It's been quite a while since my last started thread. At this meanwhile, I upgraded my D5100 to a D5200. Also, as some of you might know, I am back from a trip to Galápagos Islands. It was a wonderful travel, where I could enjoy many unique species (yes, I've got my "Darwin week"!). The islands are really magic. I will share some of the images with you. Differently from the thread of Pantanal, which became long and difficult to search for an specific theme/subject, this time I will launch different threads, related to the different species/themes I found there.

For a kick off, I decided to show you the Blue-footed Booby. About half of their worldwide breeding pairs nests on the Galápagos! They are relatively easy to be found there.

I hope you like my boobies (well, the blue-footed ones...)

What a wonderful series, Otavio and a great opportunity to visit the Galapagos. They are all wonderfully sharp and the backgrounds are done so well. In #3, the bird looks like it is suspended in air - great moment to catch. #4, you did so well following the bird! #5 & #6, the bird still manages to stand out against it's background and I like seeing it with some natural surroundings. #7 closeup I like better than the #2 closeup. I like it's expression and the soft background. Having an "expression" makes these better than a lot of closeups you see of birds that are just a side profile shot.

Can't wait to see what else you got!

Beautiful images Otavio! This time around my preferences are for the close ups (2,5,7) only because it is so rare to see this beautiful bird with all that gorgeous detail. That you captured the dive in #4 is amazing!

Great set. Otavio. I really appreciate the clarity and detail of these all images but #4 is an outstanding capture. I can't get over the look of determination on the bird's face.

I really love that image Otávio. If you feel up to it, consider masking the Boobie and bring the rocks in the background to a lighter shade so that the back end of the Boobie gets better separation. Right now it is difficult to see what part is dark rocks and what part is dark feathers. You already have very good sharpness in the Boobie and sufficient blur in the background so just a bit of brightness difference should make the Boobie stand out more clearly.
