Between The Bridges; After The Flood

The stream had already crested and was receding after I arrived. In an effort to convey what had passed I shot at a slow enough shutter speed to give the water some motion in contrast to the firmly grounded rock and the tree left on the bank. C&C regarding composition and suggestions for any further processing are solicited and welcome.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

It sure is green around your parts, Andrew.

I think you have achieved what you were after with the slower shutter speed. I wonder if you could have made better use of that log since it is a strong line pointing towards the vanishing point of the river.

I too like the leading lines of the log and wonder if you have a little more space to play with on the right. I also wonder if you might be able to coax a bit more texture from the trees by selectively adding some contrast?

I think that you nailed the shutter speed on this one as the water still has a nice sense of movement without being too silky in appearance.

    Greg and Shane,
I've finally got around to responding to this, thank you for your help:
You both suggested trying to improve use of the log as a leading line which had been my intent originally but obviously fell short. Here is the original with the crop adjusted to restore the path to the right of the log. Do you think that makes better use of the log or does it need to be a bit more of a diagonal across the frame to be more effective? At Shane's suggestion I've also used some of the Lightroom "clarity" adjustment for some selective midrange contrast to bring out a bit more texture in the trees. Thank you again for the advice.....it's an ongoing experiment and learning experience.

IMO it looks better Andrew and the log is fine as it is
