Hey, Mark. I've made a few trips to that part of the country and struggle with shooting there. I think the challenge is that there is so much for they eye to take in that it is near impossible to effectively capture yet too enticing not to try. The only way I've generated any useful shots there is by using longer glass. Maybe for that reason I like the image in your follow up post best. The first one is also nice as is the foreground detail in the second shot.

I envy your being there. I love traveling in that region.

Thanks, Dan. Interesting thought about longer lenses. This country certainly does present interesting challenges. In part, it is what I imagine moon photography would be like - seriously challenging for capturing scale and expressing the huge volumes of space. I agree that much that looks good, even spectacular, doesn't come out nearly as well as one imagines it would. Much of the scenery falls in the category that benefits from, if not requires, extraordinary weather.

Thanks, Brian. I like your pano interpretation. I tend to stay with standard crops, unnecessarily(?), and maybe out of some misplaced sense of virtue, but I like your crop better than mine.
