I think they should make these with a matt surface

Good capture David, I very rarely see any ladybirds here but with the non stop rain at present we seem pretty bug-less.

Cheers Grahame,i agree, they can be a nightmare to capture even in natural light,we had rain here on and off for about a week, and boy did it rain,i thought all the bugs had been washed awaya week later and i'm seeing bugs i've never seen before

    Re: Ladybird/bug

Yet another in perfect focus - I'm determined to sort that out on the E-M5 and hand held. Trouble is I am beginning to fall into the trap - an E-M1 might be easier. Your trap for others might be I can do that if I buy a Canon 65mm MPE.

Insects in B'ham are still thin on the ground. I suspect it's down to traffic fumes. There was a much bigger variety in Pembrokeshire even though it's cooler by the coast. Traffic fumes may sound an odd reason but being a microscope user I know that insects are pretty easy to kill or narcotise. In fact it's a lot easier to kill them rather than just stun them for a while what ever is used.

Very nicely done. I find ladybugs very hard to do because no matter the angle, they require a lot of DOF.

Not just DOF but the shiny surface is a killer as well.

    Nicely done David.

Cheers John,i switch between my MPE and 100mm,the problem with the MPE is you start at 1-1 mag,so if you come across a larger subject your snookered I nearly always use diffused flash as well,it helps freeze motion as you know!
