Card Problem?
Can someone explain this.....
I recently decided to switch cards between two cameras.
I stuck a Lexar 400x 16gb card in a Panasonic GX7
and I put a Sandisk 30mb 8gb card in a Panasonic GM1
previously it had been the other way around (the card was a bundled with the GM1).
I formatted both cards in the cameras I was shooting them on.
The GX7 took ages to format and kept coming up with a card full message and I had to keep switching on and off. The camera showed all the pics but when I downloaded to Elements 12 there were two copies of each photo and the first picture was corrupt.
after backing up I swapped cards back reformatted and the Lexar worked fine in the GM1 and the sandisk worked fine in the GX7. The GM1 worked fine with the sandisk as well.
Curiously I stuck the Lexar card in a friends GX7 and it had the same problem as mine..... but here's the thing. She uses a Lexar 400x 16gb in her GX7 and that works fine.
I'd say the Lexar was corrupt but it shot fine on the GM1 all week. Count me confused.

Re: Card Problem?
Here in USA there are so many counterfeit cards you wouldn't believe it. Even from reputable dealers, including online, who buy thru wholesalers there have been counterfeits found. Its always of course the big sizes - like dollars what the point of a counterfeit $1 bill!
Anyway I doubt the 8 or 16 GB being so cheap have that problem but you never know. Lexar have a little piece of software that can be used with there recovery program. It may be causing Pana problems. I stopped Lexar after having problems copying RAW files taken with them & subsequently not being 'transferable' to another drive. Took ages to figure it out - thought it was the drives.

Re: Card Problem?
thanks for the comments.
I don't think its a max limit thing since a friend has an identical Lexar card that runs fine in the GX7. It is my card that causes the GX7's a problem.
I doubt it is a counterfeit as it was purchased from a reputatble dealer. My friend got hers from the same dealer....
I'd assume the card was corrupt but it works fine in the GM1...... that's the bit that puzzles me!

Re: Card Problem?
Try her card in your camera to see if it is the camera or the card.

Re: Card Problem?
Here in the UK if you have a problem with a Lexar card, just send it back to them and it will be replaced. Should be the same in USA.

Re: Card Problem?
You could try using chkdsk (Windows) to find if the card is corrupt.
Open a cmd window and run chkdsk x: /f (where x is the drive letter of the card) the /f is the fix switch. Corrupted data wll be stored in a LOSTDIR folder
It may take a while if there is corruption
