Fun in an old auto yard
Had some fun this past long weekend walking around an old auto yard, everything from the 50's up to the early 80's. Like the ones from the 50's the best.
Cheers: Allan

Nice shots Allan I would crop half of the green on the top part of #1 to make the cars stand out more.

What a fun place to visit! Consider cropping the top and bottom of the first shot to a panorama-style aspect ratio that will emphasize the autos.

Re: Fun in an old auto yard
Binnur and Mike, I am thinking of printing the first one as both of you suggested as a panorama-style print. I left the brighter tops for now, it provides a good exercise in post production. The sky was not blown out but close and the cars for the most part in fairly deep shadow I wanted to work the sky down, and lighten up the shadow areas so they appeared more or less natural to what my eyes saw using ACR before going into Photoshop to polish up the images with a levels layer for black point and some curves adjustment layers with masks to get the final look. The first couple took about 10 minutes each to figure out, in ACR after that about 2 minutes for the rest, cropping out the tops would have been the easy way, this way the next time something like this comes up the better I will be to handle it.

Lucky you for the opportunity, poor you for the shadowy (dappled) lighting. Did turn out some interesting images though. That second one looks like the truck from the film "Jeepers Creepers".

I like them both but I like #2 more.
Something sad, like seeing a dead carcass, you know these vehicles were on the road and used for any number of purposes. Always a shame to see them rot down.
Have you considered converting to B&W? To me it's the shapes, form and the feeling of a bone yard, B&W might do them justice (but then...I'm inclined toward B&W.)
