    Brian,

This is one of your better images.
The flower is so “overpowering” in the image that I did not even notice the BG.
No Brian, the BG is not the best you can get it, the tree is to close to the flower.
I still like it very much.

It is a very strong flower. Is there a photography 'trick' to move the banana vine back?

I think the green balances the amazing red nicely. The Banana vine could have been more cooperative, but with the power of that red, it is not much of a distraction!

Yes, there is. It is called Ryobi chain saw, I got one in my kit.
The other is called, change your angle of attack.
There is another one, hang a fake BG behind the flower.
    But that thing called cloning,

Brian, in the rare times I shoot flowers au natural, I use a cloth drape to obscure the background.
    Tis a nice image though.

machete for a banana vine but not before the fruit ripens
but this angle was the pretty angle
    a possibility
gimp cloning doesn't work that well on a large surface.

that does seem to be the consensus. I think AB26 is right the flower is very powerful and works with the background.

I don't do much of your style photography but I did an image of a flower by my front step last week. The background in this instance would have been a brick corner of the house and part of the front entrance; completely distracting. I had a couple of acrylic boards that are used for product photography and held them behind the flower. I was very pleased with the result. Of course it may be that you prefer to have the flower appear in a natural environment and not isolated. The flower in your image is very powerful, nicely done.

If I have developed 'style' it would be shooting in natural light with the natural surroundings. I have tried moving and adjusting and even putting in special backgrounds but for me it never seems to really work.
