Brand-agnostic radio trigger with remote power control

If you are one of many "strobists" -- i.e., you are using off-camera flash with manual power control -- then the Cactus V6 flash and camera radio trigger will probably be of interest to you.

The V6 fits on any camera with an ISO hot-shoe and will remote control the power levels of many flash models across all sorts of brands like Metz, Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Godox, etc. You can use an old Nikon SB-24 with a modern Canon 580EX II in the same setup.

The link I provided above leads to my review which is a bit geared towards Pentax shooters, but you'll find other reports, e.g., from Canon shooters, as well if you search for them.

I had the V5 and was not impressed. Had a great number of misfires, which of course causes you to miss the shot. Unless the V6 is significantly better, I wouldn't recommend Cactus.

I had the V5 before and never ever had a misfire. Not once.

I wouldn't be posting about the V6 if I didn't believe it was entirely reliable. I personally tested the V6 and could fire it over 140m outdoors.

I'm not sure what your problems with the V5 were but they are atypical for sure. They weren't highly featured but they are pretty much universally appreciated.

The only problem I can think of is too little distance between sender and receiver. But once you go past 20cm or so, they should be 100% reliable.
