    So here goes.

    Hope you like them.

    for Christina...

    2. The Couple
    for Christina...

    3. The Ritual (before meeting the boyfriend)
    for Christina...

    4. Huh! That's all?

My favorites are The Righteous Brothers (I would take your expert word for it that all of them are males but my guess is that you took some artistic license when captioning that photo) and The Ritual (my wife needs a mirror to perform it).

Ahem. Referring to your exploration of black-and-white photography as a binge inaccurately implies negative connotations.

    Thanks John.

Thanks Mike. The proper title should be "The Bully Boys" or as I used to caption it "Singers of the Pond".

Binge - that is the thing. The general consensus is that birds should not be done in b/w. Never understood why. So now and then I will dabble in it particularly for the lighter coloured birds. The "binge" was actually a long one and did something like 15 images.

The first geese image...ya gotta try some puppet warp on some of those geese, just to add variety and humor.

Thank you Bobo! I absolutely love that image. My all time favourite of yours! And that is saying a lot since I love all of your bird image, especially your owls and swans.

Just something about being able to capture all those geese in animated action with such beauty, perfect focus (on six geese in action) and the gorgeous detail set off by the white background is simply breathtaking! And especially special because it shows that one can photograph common and plain Jane birds (Geese are not always considered beautiful subjects) with such beauty!

Is this a high key image? I suspect it is but the blacks on the geese are so black? May I ask the image you had in mind when photographing these geese? Exposed to the right with high key in mind? And a general overview of how you processed it?

The first snowfall we have with a lake frozen over I will be looking for groups of geese to try and capture an image like this. Even though it might take years for us to ever receive cold enough weather.

Thank you Bobo! I just so wanted to see this image again!

Yes, I love all the other images (all beautiful) especially the solo swan but the image of the geese is to die for... Truly memorable!

Aside... Whatever Chauncey is suggesting try it on the other images... To touch this gorgeous image would be sacrilege!

    Thank you!

Thanks William C, John, Dan, Kyle. I appreciate your kind words.

Thanks Christina. Nah, nothing like a plan in mind. Shooting ducks and heard a commotion, looked up, pointed and fired off a few. That they were walking on the frozen part of the lake, gives it that sort of look.

Taken in March 2012, 5 months into my first DSLR (that 3 fps, 550D) and frankly had no idea what I was doing most of the time.

The first definition of "binge" that I looked up referenced to anything being done to excess. I conveniently didn't look up any other definitions because that first one supported my thinking so well. It's an oxymoron to think that converting to monochrome could be done to excess. At the very least, 15 images doesn't even begin to hint of excess.

Thank you for sharing Bobo... Well a little bit of luck made for an extra special image!

I forgot to say that I like the B&W versions. The image of the two swans is especially angelic.

    Thanks all.

What is usually a 20 hours (including to/from, waiting etc) trip turned out to be a numbing 48 hours.

Back home now. 5am here and that jetlag is already hit. hehe

Thanks Mike. For me it was, but what else to do when nothing much to shoot during those 7 weeks away and torrential rains keeping you indoors.
