    Doing the wave

A couple of waves, just because I like the color and action.

Quite lovely. The appeal of wave color for me lies in the sense of translucency of the luminous blues and greens that are as though the color is emanating from a light within the wave. I have no idea what the technical term(s) are for that effect. I image when one is trying to image emeralds or rubies one is dealing with that phenomenon - it is more than simply color and brightness, but lucency that must be captured.

These lovely shots have the great colors, and are nicely bright and almost warm despite cool color. The translucent luminance is there somewhat, but sometimes one sees it more obviously. This is a quality for which I have neither a name nor a technique for capture.

As already said - wonderful colours. Don't forget the wonderful composition too, particularly of the secomd- you can see into that wave.......................I'd never tire of looking at that as you imagine where its going..................

I can sit and watch waves like this for hours. In fact, I do. Beautiful textures, patterns and colours, Andrew. I particularly like the way you have captured the light inside the first one.

PS These shot are really going to confuse Paul (kiwi). With both blue and green water in the same shot, he won't know if it is the Pacific or the Tasman.

The translucent quality and saturation in the first one are really terrific. Consider cropping that one on the right side to eliminate the medium-size portion of white water at the edge of the frame. Seeing it makes me wonder what is farther to the right, pulling my eye outside the frame and away from the gorgeous curl of the wave.
