    The three spires

Lichfield Cathedral at dusk. Unfortunately I didn't have a tripod with me and the sky was pretty bland, but everything held up OK at ISO2500 and 1/60th second for the 8 shot stitch.

Pretty darn good for a 8 shot with no tripod Phil! I doubt anybody would have guessed the shooting conditions if you hadn't mentioned it.

Thanks guys - when my tripod arrives in our household goods I'll be revisiting I think - a nice uplit site with not too much light pollution

My thoughts as well. Perhaps a little later would have darkened the sky a little but a very nice shot.

Looks like you don't need a tripod other than to make it easier for yourself. I like the sky - we don't get enough like that.....and it helps bring out the ovely colouring of the cathedral. Love the house next door too and how did you manage to get no people ??

    Re: The three spires

    Thanks Kaye and John

It was taken at around 9:30pm so there was no one around at all. Once person was walking up to the entrance just before I shot, so I started my pano on the bottom right and moved across. I generally like to be shooting at a low ISO for panos like this for better IQ, and noise reduction reduces this, so I'll have to revisit soon with a tripod and reshoot.

Blue hours are something that I haven't shot in before as you don't really get them in Dubai and it does seem to be luck of the draw if the cathedral is uplit as I've visited on a few occasions now.

Nicely done. I'm really looking forward to future posts of some of the traditional European architecture now that you've moved north.

By all means, reshoot the scene using that tripod. With this shot I would crop out the adjoining house and the left tree. It is a gorgeous image.
