    Afghan Picnic

My wife and I went to a park to take a walk through the woods. While crossing the picnic area to get to the trail head, we came upon an Afghan group that had emigrated to America when the Soviet Union invaded their homeland. I had a great time during the 20 minutes that I spent with them and can't tell you how tempted I was to forget about the walk and spend the day with them.

Notice in the first photo that one skewer at the end has dark meat on it. That is lamb that they had planned to cook about 30 minutes later. Upon learning that I couldn't wait that long, they prepared that skewer of lamb just for me. I regularly cook lamb and I've never had lamb that was so juicy.

Have you ever seen more attractive skewers?!

Lovely set of images ... and a good lesson in food photography. The last 3 in the set (the close-ups) are, I think, particularly strong images.

There were lots of hands not shown in these photos attending to other large pots of boiling rice and the like. Unfortunately, the light wasn't nearly as good on the other pots and they couldn't be moved because they were over burners that were hooked up to propane tanks.

Nice images (again) Mike; and an entertaining story to boot. Now, I'm hungry and I still have to wait 3 hours until lunch time....
