    Yet another robber fly

I can't compete with David's (deetheturk) images for clarity. I was walking in the bush one day when I saw this fly land on the branch. I went to investigate and this is what I saw. The branch was waving in the breeze, as was I, which made it a bit hard to get good focus.

Thanks for the comments - very much appreciated.

One of these days I will probably get myself a flash. Do you think it would have helped in this case?

Hi Tony, i use flash 90+ % of the time as it helps freeze the motion, be it wind or just us shaking, as i know i do.

You mentioned it was windy when you took the image, I had the same problem, so the answer to your question is yes, it would most probably have helped

PERFECT on the comma and the space

All we need now is a capital "I" instead of "i" and we're there buddy!

I do as well. However, the combination of the camera and lens with a flash that is held forward, so that the end of the flash or the diffuser is near the front end of the lens, is both heavy and awkward, so I often carry a monopod. Then it becomes a race to get the monopod to the right height before the critters leave.

Even with that, if there is enough breeze, it can be really difficult to get one in focus. In the case below, there was a lot of wind, and the flower was blowing back and forth. However, I had never seen a green sweat bee in my yard, and I just kept taking shots. Most were garbage, but eventually, random chance coordinated the bee's position and the timing of the flash.
