What do you think about Canon SL1 + 18-200mm zoom lens?

What do you think about Canon SL1 + Canon 18-200mm zoom lens for general photography (landscape, portrait and nature photos)?

I tried a Nikon D5200 with a Nikkor 18-200mm zoom lens and I became very pleased because I joined the best of two worlds: a nice DSLR APS-C camera (24 MPx, 24.2 bits color depth, 13.9 EV dynamic range, low noise at high ISO) + a superzoom lens = a terrific all-in-one camera. The only issue I found with Nikon D5200 was the size that I prefered if it was a little smaller (I am used with compact cameras, like my Canon S100 and SX50 HS).

The only DSLR I know that is smaller than D5200 is the Canon SL1 (18 MPx, 21.8 bits color depth, 11.3 EV dynamic range, reasonable low noise at high ISO). I know that Nikon D5200 has better sensor ratings than Canon SL1, but it is bigger than the other and I prefer smaller cameras.

After this explanation, I ask again:
What do you think about Canon SL1 + Canon 18-200mm zoom lens for general photography (landscape, portrait and nature photos)?

    Cheers,
    Antonio

What Canon did is they took the standard Rebel and whittled it into a smaller body, removing only a few features, while adding one very important one and that is from what I have read a improved live view autofocus. I had a Rebel T3 at one time with that same lens and was very happy with it you should have no problems starting out that I can see. The only problem with the SL1 that I can see is it may be a bit too small if you have large hands like I do and the grip may be insufficient for use with larger lenses

I've never used either. However, in general, superzooms suffer in terms of optical quality. If you haven't, you might find it worthwhile to dig up reviews, or go here, http://tinyurl.com/m2qwcmu, and put any competing lens in the right side for comparison.

    Paul,
Thank you very much for your help. You warned me about something that I didn't think about: the little distance between the grip and the body of a lens of large diameter (like the Canon 18-200mm).
    Cheers,
    Antonio.

    Dan,
You are right! En general, superzoom lenses suffer in terms of optical quality. In the future, I would buy other lenses with lesser zoom variation. The 18-200mm would be my walk around and travel lens.
I liked the site about lenses you suggested. Thank you very much.
    All the best,
    Antonio.
