    Flower at the Zoo

I haven't had much of a chance to edit photos lately so I haven't posted much but I have been out taking shots. I was at a local zoo with my nephew and I found this flower under a fence. I've been trying to expand the type of shots I take.

    Flower at the Zoo

All c&c welcome of course. I've got a few more like this that I have to work on yet.

Very nice pose of flowers Kyle . IMO there is some empty space on the right side which can be cropped to the end of the dark shadow. I like the colours and the background

Nice image, Kyle. Flowers are always challenging for me. You handled the exposure well and you got good isolation on the subject. The important parts of both blooms are within the DOF. The centered composition is a bit awkward IMO and a vertical format may have worked better. You did pose yourself a compositional dilemma with the two blooms facing opposite directions and with the center of the nearer bloom being obscured by a petal. Hard to decide what is central to build around.

Then again, I could stop being anal and just enjoy the pleasant image

    Thanks for the comment Leslie.
Thanks, Binnur. I'll look at cropping it a bit. I do find the background a bit busy on the edges but I kind of like the extra room around the flowers.

Thanks for the advice, Dan. Flowers are not something I have much practice with yet so all advice helps. There are lots of thing I don't think to consider until I post here.
I think I could have taken the shot with a slightly higher aperture. Part of the flower at the top is not in focus but I was trying to get the fence in the background out of focus.
I took many shots of it while I was trying to figure out what worked best. I have some others I have yet to edit which are in a vertical format. They work quite well and I'll post them soon. This one I thought looked nice with the horizontal crop and the flower being center. I could be wrong on that. I'll play around with different crops to see what I get.

Not so. It's your imagery. By definition you can't be wrong. In the forum here we offer different perspectives for consideration, not judgment

Unless of course we're discussing equipment....
